Buon Vino family, as the holidays approach, now is the perfect time for us to showcase our absolute favorites we have had this year. These wines we are showcasing are wines that left us absolutely dumbfounded at the sheer beauty of these wines. We have had some amazing tastings with some incredible wines this year, but Adam being Adam, felt the need to round out the year with a bang!

There is no particular theme for this tasting, it truly just is the wines that we were lucky enough to get to taste and have available for you to try with us. If you are available, this is a tasting you will not want to miss out on, this is a chance to try some of the giants of the wine world all at once, for $20 a glass!!

Fear not, we will have charcuterie available, with descriptors and recommended pairings to the wine, so that you can try these wines at their absolute peak. I hope to see you all there, and lets finish off the year with a BANG.

Salud!

2021 Brewer Clifton 3D Chardonnay, Sta Rita Hills
99 Points | Jeb Dunnuck
$66.99

Another utterly brilliant Chardonnay, the 2021 Chardonnay 3D comes from a site in the Sta. Rita Hills. It has a balanced, full-bodied, incredibly layered style as well as classic notes of honeyed citrus, stone fruits, crushed stone, and white flowers, with classic Sta. Rita Hills marine-like salinity and oyster shell-like nuances. A powerful, concentrated effort, it has flawless balance, beautiful freshness, and a great finish. It's one of the finest Chardonnays in this report. Hats off to Greg Brewer for continuing to set his own path and make richly textured, powerful, world class Chardonnay.

2019 La Jota Cabernet Franc, Howell Mountain
95 Points | Wine Enthusiast
$115.00

Also beautiful, the 2019 Cabernet Franc checks in as 100% varietal that was raised in 67% new French oak. Inky purple in color, with a brilliant perfume of raspberries, cassis, spring flowers, scorched earth, and graphite, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a terrific sense of elegance and purity, ripe yet present tannins, and a great finish. It's going to benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and shine for two decades.

2018 Mayacamas Cabernet, Mount Veeder
97 Points | Wine Spectator
$175.00
This distinctive version leads with pine forest, sweet bay leaf and savory notes, with a core of steeped currant and bitter plum fruit, plus ample tobacco and warm stone notes in the background. The finish is chiseled in feel, with racy acidity taking just as prominent of a role as tannic grip. With range, character and energy to spare, this should cruise in the cellar.

2018 Paul Hobbes Beckstoffer las Piedras Cabernet, St Helena
98 Points | Robert Parker
$320.00

Possessing a deep garnet core and aromas of sweet Morello cherry, baker’s mocha and savory herbs, this 2018 is a deeply compelling wine with remarkable depth and concentration of flavors. A backbone of firm tannins support expressive lay-ers of blackcurrant and blueberry confiture, with an underlying crushed rock minerality and lift of acidity that lends tension to the long, seamless finish.

2017 Vega Sicilia Valbuena No. 5, Ribiera del Duero
96 Points | Robert Parker
6 bottles left of this Vintage!
$237.00

2017 was marked by the frost of the night between April 27 and 28 that Vega Sicilia fought with their anti-frost towers. The end of the season was warm, and the overall rain was low, 235 liters. The 2017 Valbuena is marked by these circumstances, produced with 94% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 6% Merlot, with good ripeness (14.5% alcohol) and mellow acidity (4.65 grams of tartaric acid and a pH of 3.85). The grapes were cooled down and took three to four days of maceration to start fermenting with indigenous yeasts. The wine matured in a combination of new and used French and American 225-liter oak barrels and 21,000-liter oak vats for almost three years. The result, for whatever reason, was nothing short of spectacular. The wine is perfumed, floral, expressive and balsamic like few vintages before. It doesn't feel like a 2017 at all; it is harmonious, and the tannins were fine. It's an amazing Valbuena that clearly transcends the character of the vintage. What I see here is that since 2010, the wine has a very high consistency. And in 2017 it excels.
