Over the past few months, with people travelling for Summer Break, I wanted to kick off the cooler season ( which will hit mid December) and put on an extremely special tasting. I'm sure many of you are familiar with the pedigree of Rare Champagne, but I wanted to give you all the opportunity to be some of the first people in the US to try the newest Vintages of them!Presenting these prestigious wines will be none other than Maud Rabbin the global brand director to rare champagne! "When we tasted Rare Millésime 2006 together, I noticed many similarities between this sunny vintage and Maud’s radiant side: intelligence, generosity, sincerity, and a bold personality. She embodies values that are important to me, with sparkling, lively eyes, a ready smile, a noble heart, wine in her veins, a love for beautiful things, long-term vision, daring, and deep RESPECT, in capital letters. I knew in that first hour I spent with Maud that it was the beginning of a chapter that would fundamentally change the life of RareChampagne, which she would lead from then on.”What better tribute to Maud Rabin than this one from Régis Camus, the most awarded Cellar Master of the century. Through her presence, the way she listens to others, her talent to transform an idea into a project and each project into an exceptional moment, she has created a style, an attitude, a passion, and a true Art of Living. She has helped transform Rare Champagne into a luxury house with the power of her charisma. In less than three years, she brought it back in touch with the reality of new consumers while opening the door to dreams, making each moment unique. She could read and write at the age of four. She was raised by women and has her grandmother to thank for her ability to overcome obstacles (which she calls“puzzles”) with a smile, to “look at life with a lot of perspective because in every crisis, there are opportunities. It’s up to us to transform them.” Maud Rabin got her start in fashion in marketing and communications management, living in Paris,New York, and Shanghai, then joined Rémy Cointreau, where she spent nearly a decade as Image Director for the Liqueurs and Spirits Division while supporting the digital transformation. She has been at the heart of Rare Champagne since 2018, breathing new life into the Champagne House, driven by the energy that never lets her give up on anything. This evening will consist of a tasting of the 2008 Brut and Brut Rose, along with the newest vintage, the 2013 Brut and 2014 Brut Rose. The wines will be accompanied by the usual Charcuterie Board, along with Champagnes best friend, Champagne and Caviar graciously provided by Sixty Vines!Seating will be limited so get your tickets before they run out!2008 Rare Brut, Champagne97 Points | Wine Spectator$225.00In a subtle, joyful effervescence, the intense crystalline golden robe evokes yellow diamonds. The initial nose shines by the pure vivacity of this vintage. As Rare Millésime 2008 gradually warms in the glass, a vast range of orange blossom, hyacinth and white flowers is released. This leads to the delicacy of vanilla blossoms, a touch of fresh coconut, aromas of just ripe Williams pear and fresh almond, enhanced by notes of tangerine and blackcurrant buds. The second nose reveals the saline minerality, abundant and refined, an iodine-smoky harmony and a touch of licorice. On the palate the crispy, precise attack is followed by exuberant aromas of fresh pineapple, freshly cut and crisp, passion fruit, kiwi and coconut, nuanced with tangy citrus notes. These combine with plush springlike flavours with unparalleled length. The finish, with remarkable saline and iodine notes, perpetuates the journey into an endless spring.2008 Rare Brut Rose, Champagne98 Points | Jeb Dunnuck$480.00
The 2008 Rare Rosé is Piper-Heidsieck's second ever prestige cuvée rosé. This extremely premium and rare offering has been 11 years in the making. The legendary eye of Régis Camus saw a rare opportunity in the 2008 champagne vintage, a beautifully complex and eccentric vintage. It is an audacious wine, born of intuition, vision and aspiration – the very definition of Rosé.
Following an attack that is both elegant and generous the velvety texture unfurls to offer minerality and subtlety. Initially, the exuberant vitality of dark fruits and citrus is followed by vibrancy, smoky notes of star anise and violets.
