Pierre Seillan, spent most of his life honing his craft in Bordeaux, but later became enthralled with the potential of Sonoma and Knights Valley in California. In 1998 he launched Verité Winery and began producing what quickly became some of the most sought after wines out of California. In 2001 Verité was awarded its first 100 point score for the La Muse Merlot and has since earned 18 perfect 100 point scores!
We will start the evening with an amuse bouche wine, and then focus the remaining tasting a horizontal of Pierre's 2005 vintage, including his Cabernet Sauvignon based blend and his 2005 Cabernet Franc based, both of which got 100 point scores, and his Merlot based blend which was awarded 98 points! And equally as exciting, all three 2005 Bordeaux blends are coming from Half Bottles!
Half bottles age nearly twice as fast as full bottles and when it comes to Verité, that is a very good thing! Robert Parker once said that the wines from Verité age "Glacially slow!" Half bottles give us a glimpse into the future of a full bottles aging potential. In short, if you don't want to wait 20 years for a wine to age perfectly, buy a half bottle and only wait 10-12.
"The myth perpetrated by Old World wine proponents is that California wines don’t age. Those critics need to taste Verité, because these wines are aging far slower than I imagined."
- Robert Parker
We will be pouring healthy portions of each of these three phenomenal wines, with additional available for purchase. This is not a tasting you will want to miss so don't delay, buy your tickets now!
