A selection from our prime plots along the Ahr between Dernau and Ahrweiler, all of which are extremely steep and characterized by slate. The old vines in these vineyards offer optimal conditions for Pinot Noir.

Pinot Noir has high demands on the location and demands all of the winemaker's knowledge and craftsmanship. The labor-intensive steep slopes of the Ahr offer ideal conditions for coaxing a balanced combination of color, fruit and Burgundy bouquet from this grape variety. Reduced yields and a long ripening period on the vine enable the typical aroma and elegant acid and tannin structure. The slate soils of the Ahr give Pinot Noir an unmistakable minerality that is unparalleled and makes it something unique
