The 2015 Alpinist Red Wine Blend (yes, that's the current release) includes splashes of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, but it's basically a 50-50 Cabernet Sauvignon-Syrah blend. It features a nicely balanced, juicy mix of red and black fruit, hints of blueberries and tart cherries. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is mouthwatering and fresh, with silky tannins, an appealing antidote to oversized Napa Cabs—or perhaps an undernourished, emaciated version, if your tastes run that way.
