Based largely on Cabernet Sauvignon (there’s 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec, and small amounts of Petit Verdot and Merlot), the 2021 Estate Selection comes from a mix of the estate vineyards and was brought up in 50% new French oak. Its vivid purple hue is followed by a brilliant nose of crème de cassis, classy oak, graphite, and spring flowers, and it has full-bodied richness on the palate, a pure, seamless mouthfeel, and just about perfect tannins. It’s an absolutely stunning Bordeaux blend from this team that I wish every reader could taste. It will evolve for over two decades.
