A great follow up to the 2018 that garnered the #9 spot in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of the Year with the same score and more approachable palate. From the famed Dr. Crane Vineyard that the Salvestrin family owns a portion of. A relative bargain compared with many bottlings from this world-class vineyard that often fetch $200-$400+.

This classic blend is intensely fruit-focused with notes of blueberry compote, blackberry, black cherry, and plum both on the nose and palate, punctuated by a hint of dried sage, cocoa powder, and baking spices. The attack is soft and mouthfeel is plush which is then countered by a backbone of acidity and silky tannins.

93 points	Scents of red and black cherries burst from Salvestrin's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Crane Vineyard. From a historic vineyard on the southern edge of Saint Helena and just west of Highway 29, the wine blossoms with further airing to reveal hints of cedar, vanilla and some darker berries on the nose. Full-bodied and softly tannic, it has an almost airy feel in the mouth rather than a richly concentrated assertiveness, finishing with gently drying notes and hints of French roast coffee. While not quite the equal of the trio of wines to emerge from this property from 2019 to 2021, it's still darn impressive.

93 points	Based on 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc and aged 20 months in 72% new French oak, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Dr. Crane Vineyard comes from the estate vineyard in the heart of St. Helena and sports a dense ruby/plum hue as well as gorgeous aromatics of crème de cassis, graphite, candied violets, and baking spices. It's beautiful on the palate as well, with a layered, seamless mouthfeel, medium to full-bodied richness, and sweet tannins. It's certainly in the style of the vintage yet brings mid-palate density, plenty of concentration, and sound underlying structure.

93 points	This compact and dense red offers ripe dark berries, sweet spices, dried herbs, cocoa and hints of moist earth on the nose. Full-bodied with a textured yet firmly built tannin structure carrying the core of dark fruit through the lingering and persistent finish.
