The grapes for this Grüner Veltliner Smaragd from the Franz Hirtzberger winery are sourced exclusively from the Wachau wine village of Spitz (Setzberg and Rotes Tor). On the nose, this pearl of the Wachau presents an extremely clear, precise and vitalizing bouquet, dominated by perfectly ripened pear aromas. These merge harmoniously with the spicy notes of gneiss and show subtle but still slightly spicy nuances. Tea aromas and clear lemongrass notes mix, accompanied by a hint of lychee. The freshness of this wine is truly impressive, it is as clear, crystal clear and precise as Swiss clockwork. In the mouth, there is a wonderfully concentrated character, in which the supple pear and apricot aromas struggle for supremacy on the tongue with the herbal note of lime rubb. This wine is full-bodied and elegant at the same time, with a lush and extremely intense fruitiness. It is rich but at the same time refined, intense and long-lasting, yet well balanced and powerful. The finish is long and aromatic. So much power, so mega fine and delicate. It is never heavy, but always lively and animating. To have Grüner Veltliner of this quality in the glass is simply pure joy. In short: Hirtzberger, Grüner Veltliner and the Wachau make this wine a true pleasure experience
