We are so excited to host a very special winery that is producing wines of incredible quality: Palmaz Vineyards! This is a small production, though young in age, that is taking the estates fruit, honoring the tradition of the past in Napa, while bringing a modern touch, creating what all astounding wines have in common: Balance.
To guide us through these very collectible wines, we will have Steven Venegas, the Regional Sales Manager for Palmaz Vineyards, representing these wines in 13 states. With 20 years of hospitality experience, Steven brings the knowledge and know how to help us explore these great wines, and most importantly, make it FUN! He has also given us a great opportunity to see how their flagship ages and improves over time, so we will be doing a vertical which is always an incredible opportunity!
These are extremely small production wines, and are mainly sold direct to consumer via their membership, so don't miss your opportunity to get them in your cellar!
2022 Palmaz Chardonnay, Napa Valley
Always vibrant and full-bodied, the 2022 vintage is like an orchard ripening in the glass. Pears, golden apples, and fresh stone fruits draw the nose to the glass. As one takes a sip, the fruit characteristics stay steadfast while hints of oak and graham cracker crust round out the palate. Perfectly balanced with a long finish, this wine will pair beautifully with seafood fare and heartier dishes alike. Fresh crab legs or even a wild mushroom risotto would showcase this wine’s elegance nicely.
2018 Cedar Knoll by Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Fresh, opulent, and a wine with great tension, this Cabernet checks all the boxes. Supple tannins and a full body are mediated by a bolt of acidity, and frames the fresh black berry, red plum, and dried flowers, framed by a moderated and appreciated touch of vanilla and toast.
2014 Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
The 2014 vintage was a joy to farm and the resulting Cabernet just as joyful to drink. This vintage exhibits a unique exuberance upon release. The fresh aromas of red plum and currant are enlivened with luscious notes of praline and cocoa. The combination of these aromas evoke images of a warm inviting confectioner’s workshop enticing the child in you to step heedlessly in. Once inside, the intricate structure of this wine appeals to the experienced connoisseur delicately gliding across the palate with a precise and elegant finish.
2019 Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Shy at first, the 2019 Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine that takes its time to show its true characteristics. Dark fruit and toasted oak explode from the glass to invite you in. Once the wine opens up, currants, smoky oak and bold tannins round out a luscious mid-palate. Patience is key for the 2019 vintage, revealing more complexity as it opens up in the glass. The wine’s long finish leaves a hint of toasted caramel on the good-bye. A Cabernet braised steak or grilled tomahawk would be a perfect companion to this bold beauty. We anticipate the wine to age elegantly through 2030.
2021 Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
The 2021 vintage of our Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant expression of our vineyards, beautifully showcasing how our grapes thrive in cooler and longer growing seasons. Fruity aromas like dark currant and orange peel complement brilliantly hints of spices like cloves and cinnamon as they waft from the glass. Once on the palate, characteristics of tobacco and dark cherries balance this wine’s bold and daring tannins. After a short time in the glass, the tannins round out to reveal a silky and lingering finish. This wine will reward you if you open one now and just the same if you revisit it decades later.
